Combating Climate Change: The Reforestation Project in Aberdares
Our Field Team
Field Contributor

The Aberdare Range stands as one of East Africa's most crucial water towers, supplying millions of people and vast ecosystems. However, years of illegal logging and climate shifts have threatened its canopy.
In partnership with the Kenya Forest Service and local community associations, Samora Kalosi has launched an aggressive, long-term reforestation initiative. Over the next five years, our goal is to plant and nurture over two million indigenous trees.
This isn't merely about planting seeds. It's about empowering the local communities—particularly women and youth—who are now employed to manage nurseries, guard the young saplings, and harvest non-timber forest products sustainably.
Through this holistic approach, we are addressing critical climate change indicators while simultaneously boosting local economic resilience.
